About Winnipeg

 

Winnipeg, a city of 600,000 with a rich history, is located in the geographical centre of North America .  During the 1800’s, Winnipeg  developed on Canada’s prairie as a trading post where Europeans exchanged blankets, knives and guns with Aboriginal people for valuable beaver pelts.
 

After the arrival of the railway, Winnipeg became a landing point for immigrants who were en route to a new life as pioneer settlers either on the farmlands of Manitoba and Saskatchewan, or in it ’s western cities. 

 Today it is a bustling, modern, North American city where the arts flourish.  Winnipegers enjoy a world class ballet company, an internationally acclaimed orchestra, and theatres in which plays and operas are regularly performed.  Numerous festivals celebrating different cultures and interests occur throughout the year.

As well as all this, reminders of Winnipeg ’s history are all around.  You can visit The Forks, the ancient meeting place for Aboriginal Tribes and Fur Traders; walk the Exchange District and enjoy architecture from the early commercial days of the city; or take a short ride into the country and come face-to-face with giant bison, which were hunted by Aboriginal people for centuries.  

The King’s School

  

The King’s School has been a ministry of Gateway Christian Community for over 20 years. It is a government recognized school with over 220 students.

A fully qualified, accredited staff of twenty-one teach the Manitoba curriculum from a God-centered perspective, adequately preparing students for higher education and university. Situated on a seven acre site in the eastern part of the city, The King’s School exists to inspire and equip students to live to their fullest potential for the glory of God. 

As a Christian school, TKS is committed to providing a Christ-centered and Christ-celebrated education.  Believing that an active faith is the foundation for a fruitful and fulfilled life, the Principal and staff foster a Christian atmosphere in which students can grow strong in their faith while they learn, mature, spiritually develop and come to understand and appreciate their God-given gifts.

 

The School of English

 

 

The School of English is an exciting new eight weeks endeavor!  It is designed to host students from other nations who desire to improve their grasp of the English language - the international communications media of the 21st Century.

Students will be hosted in the homes of approved families from Gateway Christian Community.  Every weekday the School will have English as a Foreign Language (EFL) lessons but sometimes special excursions will be arranged in order to give visitors an authentic Winnipeg seasonal experience!   On weekends, the students are free to join in regular family fun with their hosts as well as attend Gateway Christian Community Church .

Visa Information:

Students attending The King’s School of English will need to acquire a Student Visa before they leave.  This is a simple process and The King’s School will provide students with the necessary letters to aid in the application.

Cost:

The cost of the International school are as follows:

Registration Fee         $150.00

School Tuition fees     $1,050.00/month (Short Term option)

School Tuition fees       $10,000.00/10 month program (Long Term option)

Accommodations          $600.00/Month

Medical Insurance       $70.00/Month

    All payments must be in CANADIAN DOLLARS.  Transportation costs to Winnipeg are not included in the above amounts. Tuition must be paid in full by International Money Order or VISA/MASTERCARD credit card at least 4 weeks prior to the starting of classes. Tuition is refundable, less the registration fee, in cases of proven illness or Visa issues at least 2 weeks prior to the starting of classes.
